Prisma Color Drawing: Inca Sun Temple

In September of 2016, I went on an excursion that probably qualifies as my craziest adventure to date. I went to Peru and hiked the 3.5-day journey to Machu Picchu. Before the hardest hike of my life began, we spent some time in Cuzco, where we toured the Coricancha Sun Temple.

Fast forward a few months after our trip–which included a trek of endless stairs, a leisurely ride on a boat made of reeds and a few scares involving blue fingers and an oxygen tank–I decided to make the Sun Temple the focus on a two-point perspective pencil drawing.

I was taking a local art class at the Peterson Art Center in Salt Lake City, Utah and the building, with it’s beautiful architecture and variations of stone, made for a perfect picture. In the end, I gave a copy of the picture to all my friends who went on the journey with me as a memento of all the fun times we had. So if you ever want a drawing to help capture a fun memory, let me know.
