For a few years now I have done CD covers for my Aunt, who is a talented singer and pianist. Usually, she cuts her CD’s around Christmas, but this year we went with an Alaskan summer theme.

During the summers in Alaska Fireweed blooms. I grew up hating the flower. The blooms that inched up the stem, getting closer to the top as each summer day passed, felt like a time bomb counting the days until my freedom from school was over. Now, I love the flower. It’s a symbol of home and became the element that tied the CD cover together perfectly.
